Bacon Brownies: A Deliciously Decadent Dessert!

Filed under: Bacon — Administrator @ 3:10 pm

We are proud to announce that Bacon Freak has recently scored another Top Ten victory with our delightful little treat called Bubba’s Butcher Block Bacon Brownies!

Wow, it seems like pretty much everyone and their cousin is riding high on the “Bacon Bonbon Bandwagon” lately. It seems like every prominent chef and posh restaurant is coming up with one deliciously decadent dessert after another made with humankind’s all-time favorite flavor, bacon.

Not to be outdone at our very own game, in our very own pig pen, we “Baconistas” here at www.BaconFreak.com came up with our very own amazingly outrageous dessert that combines one of Bacon Freaks most popular gourmet bacons with one of the worlds all time favorite dessert treats.

Our efforts did not go unnoticed or unrewarded, and for the very first time in history, a dessert item actually made it into the final Top Ten list of best bacon oriented meals.

We are now perfectly pleased and proud as punch to present to you, “Bubba’s Butcher Block - Apple Cinnamon Bacon” in what we couldn’t help but logically call “Bubba’s Butcher Block Bacon Brownies, or what most of our members and customers simply refer to as Bacon Freak Bacon Brownies.

You absolutely have to check these out for yourself and be sure to use the correct bacon, as the flavor is definitely not the same without the gourmet sweet, salted sizzle with the perfect blend of cinnamon and apple. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 lb. - Bubba’s Butcher Block: Apple Cinnamon Bacon. (http://www.cvwine.com/shop/bacon/home.html)

1 Box - premixed Brownie Mix. (Premium Quality Gourmet Mixes definitely blow the cheap, mass produced or generic brands completely out of the barn-yard.)

2 - 4 Large AAA Eggs (Depending on what the brownie mix that you choose calls for / We Prefer Brown Eggs)

1-2 splashes of Gourmet Olive Oil (We Prefer Coastal Vineyards Gourmet Olive Oil - http://www.cvwine.com/oliveoil/home.html )

Directions:

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees

Lay your bacon out in a large baking pan blanketed with a layer of aluminum foil.

Place the bacon in the oven for approximately 3 minutes.

You are NOT seeking to fully cook the bacon to completion at this point, simply to partially cook it to the point where it is lightly browned and slightly crispy.

Remove the bacon from the oven and allow it to cool on a plate lined with paper towels in order to drain off any excess bacon grease.

Pour off the bacon grease into a sink and directly down the drain with very HOT water running to avoid a drain clog when the grease cools and hardens.

Rinse the pan off with very hot water and dry with paper towels.

Prepare the Brownie mix by following the instructions on the box, combining the mix with the proper amount of eggs, olive oil and water as called for in the mixes instructions.

Lightly coat the pan with a generous amount of olive oil.

After the brownie batter is mixed, pour half of it into the pan.

Add as much of the bacon to the batter as meets your fancy.

Place the remainder of the bacon is an air tight container and save for a salad, BLT or any other meal that includes bacon (Don’t they ALL?)

Pour the rest of the brownie batter on top of the bacon, being certain to cover it all.

Bake the Brownie Bacon mix in the oven for as long as that particular brand of Brownie mix instructs, approximately 22 to 25 minutes, depending on how soft or hard you like your brownies.

Allow the brownies to cool and harden for 10 minutes.

Cut the brownies into square or, if you are truly artistic and have a little extra time on your hand, any ornate design of your choice, I prefer the shape of Pigs wearing top hats and dancing with a cane, but squares are OK too. ;-)

Bacon Wear for the professional

Filed under: Bacon — Administrator @ 2:46 pm

www.BaconTies.com is cooking up a sizzling necktie featuring the design of America’s favorite food - bacon. This tasty design is the brain child of John Turi, BaconTies.com Founder. “Using my years as a graphic and necktie designer, mixed with the trendiness of everything bacon, the idea grew from a book of sketches to a final product that looked so much like bacon, I knew I had to manufacture and sell it,” Turi says.

“The precise production method and use of soft microfiber (soft like silk, but animal friendly) makes these ties very high-end and almost museum pieces onto themselves. The smoked bacon design is targeted for pop culture chic, dressers who understand style and above all else, bacon,” Turi explains.

Smoked Bacon Neckwear is the label name for a bunch of creative graphic and fashion designers who saw a niche for kitsch with bacon. When they sat down to create a unique men’s tie, they never imagined that the now Famous Bacon Tie would be it. They started with sketches, many sketches, then on to numerous samples and arduous color correcting of the silk screens to get the crisp bacon look. When They saw the final version, they knew they had a winning novelty necktie. Having designed hundreds of neckties over the years for a few large ecommerce neckwear websites, the felt it was time to do something on their own that will be talked about for years to come. They hope you enjoy the Bacon Tie as much as they do.

The Art of Wearing Bacon!

Filed under: Bacon — Administrator @ 11:23 pm

When we were first contacted at Bacon Freak by a few seriously committed “Baconistas” telling us that they were going to prove their love by having the object of their obsession, namely BACON” permanently inked onto their skin for all eternity, we thought that was pretty cool. I might add, at the time it also seemed pretty strange, pretty rare, pretty odd, but most definitely pretty cool.

Now years have gone by and the idea of proudly sporting “Bacon Tattoos” is about as normal that wearing a tie to work, not just for men, but for the ladies as well. As you can imagine, we get a lot of letters and emails about people’s bacon tattoos and we decided that it was time to gather a counsel of some of our most loyal Bacon Freaks to go through a collection of over 100 bacon tattoos and choose the ten that they believe are the most impressive, fun, sexy, silly, what ever, basically their very favorite ten tattoos.

Then we tallied up the votes and took a look at what we had to offer our loyal audience of Gourmet Bacon Club Members and Customers. Now the coolest thing for us over here at www.BaconFreak.com, was the fact that one of the tattoos features our famous little pig mascot and our “Bacon Is Meat Candy” motto.

However, the saddest thing for us was the fact that our little piggy didn’t win first place, and unfortunately “had to go wee wee wee all the home!”

You’ve got to check this out for yourself! Let us know which of these tats your all-time favorite is or if you think we missed out on one that you believe could rock our socks of, send it in right away.

Remember that if you haven’t yet submitted your tat, or the tat of someone you know, don’t hesitate to contact us here at www.cvwine.com/Contact_Us.html for consideration in our next Top Ten list.

So here they are, Ladies and Gentlemen, Introducing Bacon Freak’s Official Top Ten Tattoos.

One Man’s Bacon Is Another Lady’s Treasure!

Filed under: Bacon — Administrator @ 2:31 pm

This just in! We’ve got “Breakin’ Bacon News” out of West Palm Beach, Florida, where a woman has just been arrested for first degree “bringing home the bacon!”

According to Television News Channel 12, WPEC NEWS in West Palm Beach, FL, a Perkins Family Restaurant employee has been thrown in the pokey and will soon be heading for the “pig pen” for picking up Perkins’ pork.

A local officer of The Stuart Police department found the bacon hidden away in the purse of Ms. Luann McKinnley’s when they arrived at the Perkins Restaurant in city of Stuart, after a fellow employee witnessed Ms. McKinnley secretly stash 3 pounds of bacon away for good keeping.

McKinnley, 52 years old, initially gave police a false name when approached about the incident, which led to her arrest, officially being charged with crime of “theft.” However things really began to sizzle when, in the middle of the booking process, the authorities at Martin County Jail suddenly became aware of the fact that they were being given a false name by the “Bacon Bandit!”

Then all heck broke loose, as officers found drugs and other illegal contraband on her person and when by the time all the smoke cleared, she ended up being charges with theft and possession of a controlled substance.

Bond was set at $5,500. Which only goes to show; if you or someone that you truly care about really loves bacon and doesn’t want risk going without it, it’s a much better idea to order a Bacon Freak Monthly Bacon Club Membership, which is conveniently available right here on your computer at (http://www.cvwine.com/gourmet/bacon/home.html).

Not only will the Bacon Freak Monthly membership amaze you each and every month with the most delectably delicious award winning gourmet bacon, but it will easily save you well over $5,000 to boot.

Brain Boitano Exclaims: “Let Then Eat Bacon!”

Filed under: Bacon — Administrator @ 2:31 am

It seems like everyone in the world of media is suddenly freaking out over the latest news release that “The Food Network” has announced the signing of popular, two-time World Champion / four-time National Champion figure skater Brian Boitano to host and star in an upcoming new show.

What we here at www.BaconFreak.com find a lot more fascinating is specifically what he intends to start his “gourmet food” television career by serving up to the watching world.

His very first episode is already planned out and it includes Brian hosting a little dinner party for an “All Female” Roller Derby team. And exactly what does this multi-time World & National Champion athlete intend to serve this bevy of beauties on wheels?

Believe it or not, the very first show will have Brian serving up a menu that includes both; Bacon Corn Muffins spread generously with a savory cream cheese frosting & Bacon Cups!

The name of the show proves that both The Food Network and Mr. Boitano have a great sense of humor. The show will be called: What Would Brian Boitano Make!” This is a clever little parody of an infamous episode of the comedically crass and crude television program South Park, where there was an episode and an entire musical number entitled: What Would Brian Boitano Do!”

By the way, the infamous South Park episode itself was an irreverent parody of the popular Christian slogan: “What would Jesus Do!

The show will premiere on August 23, 2009 at 1 pm on the Food Network. Boitano, now at the age of 45, lives in San Francisco, California where he has proven over the years to be an immaculate chef.

Mr. Boitano will bring many of his personal grace, poise, charm and life experiences into the context of the program, as well as his elaborate and good willed sense of humor.

Personally I think it’s awesome that a guy who is consistently in such perfect shape as to win gold Medals in Olympic athletic events loves to eat bacon so much! That sort of pig-headed “Suey Enthuey-siasm” touches the very center of this Bacon Freak’s soul!

By the way, Brian’s obsession for all things bacon will not be satisfactorily satiated by the pilot episode of his Food Network program. Apparently coming in an episode soon near you, Brian makes Bourbon Bacon Apple Tarts! Mmmmmm, I can already taste it!
